Our Mission The Middle Georgia Junior Rodeo Association (MGJRA) prepares children for rodeo competition at the high school and collegiate levels. We promote good sportsmanship, fair competition and family oriented activities. In an effort to preserve our Western Heritage, all contestants are required to wear western attire at all times while in the arena (long sleeve button up shirt, western boots and cowboy hat). We also enforce the no pass no play rule. Report cards are checked to monitor our competitors grades. Many events do not even require the contestants to own or ride a horse. Our History MGJRA was started in 1993 at the Black Diamond Ranch in Fort Valley, Georgia. A few friends gathered together on a Saturday morning to teach their children rodeo events. Over the years our organization has grown by leaps & bounds. We began leasing the Hawkinsville Harness Facility in June of 2005. This is a wonderful covered arena where we have all of the MGJRA events. Membership Membership is open to families with children less than 15 years old (September 1st) who are not eligible for high school. Participants acquire points at the individual rodeos held throughout the year. After the rodeo season concludes numerous saddles, belt buckles and other awards are presented to champions and finalists at the year end awards banquet.
